Garage Saling at the Zoo

I made a rookie mistake on Friday night.  I told Tony about the garage sale at the zoo on Saturday morning.  Each year, the gift shops of the local museums and other area attractions (like the Arch) gather at the zoo and hold a garage sale on their stock.  My mistake led to an early morning wake alarm clock, and an excited Tony ready to go garage saling.  I hate garage sales, but this one wasn't too bad.  I even found something for my office while there.  An office at Saint Louis University definitely needs a replica Arch in it.

After we secured our great finds, we went to walk around the zoo.  The Zoo here in St. Louis is completely free to the public, but they do charge for a few things like entrance to the children's zoo which is normally $2.  Except if you go before 10 a.m.. then it is free.  Since it was only 9:30, we decided to check out the children's zoo.  This was our first time walking through this area.

As an FYI, if you visit the zoo and want to do the attractions, just buy the $10 bracelet.  Then you get the children's zoo entrance, carousel ride, train rides, any animal shows that are happening that day,
and see a film in their theater.

Alpacas!

How cute is he?  They had another one with a beautiful, chocolate brown coat, but he was too busy eating to ever get a good picture.

He was just chilling on the rock wall.

The little black and white one was so cute.  You can't really tell, but they are up on ledge area.  The black and white one was running around, rearing up on his hind legs, and then head butting any of the others around him.  Until a large goat hopped up there with them.  Then he backed off!

Another goat just hanging out on the rock wall.  As we were taking this picture, a baby goat hopped up on the bench behind us and into the lap of a little kid that was sitting there with his grandparents.  The grandma had her leather purse sitting next to her on the edge of the bench, so a large goat walked up and tried to grab it.  Luckily, she was just a tad faster than he was!

The two cheetahs stayed behind the bamboo in the back of their habitat area.  This was one of the only times that one of them came out.

Baby elephants are so cute.

If you couldn't tell by the previous post, I like penguins.  This one was particularly entertaining.  His bucket was full of fish.  He reach in, grab one, chew once or twice, and then toss it away.  You can even see one on the ground near him in this picture.  Most of them ended up in the water.  Every 4th or 5th one, he'd actually eat the whole thing.

They look so cuddly!

Since blogger is being screwy, I had to add this before the picture.  This is for the bear picture below.

These two were so cute.  It's like they were making out.  The big bear kept licking the face of the little one, then rubbing noses together.  It was absolutely adorable.
