Twin Oaks Vineyard and Winery aka Gone with the Wind Winery

Our second stop of the day was Twin Oaks.  During my quick research for this trip, I learned that the wineries within Sainte Genevieve County have formed a partnership titled the Route du Vin Wine Trail.  This allows them to market themselves as a group, plan events together, and coordinate other activities which encourage business to the area.  My favorite is the Progressive Dinner that they host at the end of each May.  Each of the six wineries on the wine trail offer a dinner course and wine pairing on their property.  We are going to have to remember this for next year!

Twin Oaks is a family owned vineyard located on 180 acres of land with 25 acres in vines.  Two brothers first planted their grapes in 2000.

I love their logo with the "O" featuring the road into the vineyard.

Drive up to the tasting room.

On their website, they say that their tasting room sits in the middle of their vineyards.  They weren't kidding!

Baby grapes!

I've never seen or read Gone with the Wind, but I'm told that that the name of Ashley's plantation is Twelve Oaks.  Since the inside of their tasting room is covered in Gone with the Wind memorabilia, Tony theorizes that the name Twin Oaks was inspired by the movie.

View from our seat on the wrap around porch.  I loved how they had couches for seating as well as tables and chairs.

Like most vineyards, Twin Oaks offers live entertainment April - October.  This guy was fantastic.  All of us were really disappointed in the quality of their wines, but we would return just to hear him again!

Tony isn't a big fan of wine, so he really surprised us when he liked their signature wine enough to buy a bottle.  Two Brothers is their award winning sweet wine which is a blend of Catawba and Concord grapes.  They describe it as a perfect picnic wine.  It was okay, but I wasn't a huge fan.
